PMD Legalisation Update #4 - Out of Control Fines! We Need Your Support

These penalties are getting ridiculous!

Recently, a teenager in Darwin was fined $316 for riding his electric scooter in an area where public hire e-scooters are readily and legally available. Meanwhile in Sydney, an electric skateboard rider was fined $697 for riding an “uninsured motor vehicle”. All across various Facebook groups, we are seeing posts from riders who have received warnings or fines from the police.

These laws need to change, and we need your help to challenge old-fashioned mindsets and change outdated rules.

Could you support our campaign by following us on both Facebook and Instagram, and sharing the posts with your friends? We have exciting updates coming soon and it’ll bring greater traction to our work when we have a higher follower count on our social media accounts.

Councillor Brendon Zhu also spoke with Jeff Anning and Matty Rogers from Evolve on eSkate Chat about our campaign, the support from the industry and the next steps. It was a great conversation and we are thrilled to have world leading brands support our legalisation campaign.

You can listen to it here.

Thank you once again for your support.
