NSW E-Scooter Trials

Councils in NSW have until 30 September 2022 to submit a request to participate in the 12 month e-scooter trials. Although private owners of personal mobility devices are unable to participate in the trials, we urge all local councils to participate in the e-scooter trials as a starting point. The trials provide an opportunity to broaden the uptake of micro-mobility and active transport in our community.

Do you want your local council to participate in the 12-month trial? Find your local council and email them using our template below. If you do not know your local council, you can find which council you belong to and their best email address here: https://www.olg.nsw.gov.au/public/find-my-council/

Subject: E-Scooter Trial

Dear Mayor and Councillors,

I am writing as a local constituent in this council. Transport for NSW have recently announced all local councils in NSW can express their interest to participate in an e-scooter trial.

Personal mobility devices such as e-scooters, electric skateboards and electric unicycles provide me an alternative method of transport that is environmentally friendly, physically active and reduces traffic congestion on the road.

The e-scooter trial for 12 months is an opportunity for our local community to gain insights on the popularity of these devices as a method of active transport and to explore future urban planning potential in our local government area. The future of personal mobility devices, including privately owned vehicles in our local council, will benefit from the insights of these e-scooter trials in the interim.

I am asking you to support a trial in our local government area for the e-scooter trial. This is an opportunity for our council to lead by example in providing greater access to active transport and promoting healthier, greener, congestion-busting transport alternatives.

Kind regards,
